Meeting on loan issue canceled
J.J. Huggins, Sentinel & Enterprise, September 28,
2006
LEOMINSTER -- Officials canceled Wednesday night's
special City Council meeting regarding the allocation of
$1.3 million for unexpected library building expenses.
The meeting will occur tonight in the City Council Chambers
at City Hall. A public forum is scheduled for 6:55 p.m., and
the meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
The council had originally planned to meet Wednesday night
and vote on whether the city will take out a loan to cover
the $1.3 million.
But to vote on the loan order, councilors must first vote to
allocate the money, according to City Council President
Robert Salvatelli.
The council chose to delay making a decision about the
allocation during their meeting Monday night.
Salvatelli then canceled Wednesday night's meeting, and
rescheduled a meeting with two agenda items for tonight. One
item is for the council to vote on the allocation, and the
other is for the loan order.
The council had to wait until tonight to have the meeting
because meetings must be scheduled 48 hours in advance for
legal reasons, according to Salvatelli.
"We're going to meet Thursday night and hopefully get this
thing resolved one way or the other," Salvatelli said
